Dear brothers and sisters,

I greet you in this Easter season with the very words of Jesus, from Saint John's Gospel:  "Peace be with you!"  And many times throughout the Scriptures another phrase is uttered in the name of God again and again:   "Do not be afraid!   I am with you always!".

The great stone that had been rolled over the entrance of the tomb of Jesus after his Good Friday crucifixion and burial is  by God's grace and mercy rolled aside on Easter Sunday morning when the women come to anoint his body as was the custom.  "He is not here, he has risen!"  the angel tells them. And then Jesus himself appears once more and forevermore with those words of peace, hope, and encouragement-  "Peace be with you!   Do not be afraid,   for I am with you always until the end of the world!"

May this Resurrection season of Easter which now continues for fifty days roll away whatever stones great and small that may block your own life.   It is God's work first and last —  we receive it in faith and hope,  and live out our daily response with gratitude and a desire to help shift the "stones" of the world.

A Happy and Holy Easter to you all.

Father John
